![]() Does anybody have any special techniques for painting finished models? I think I'm going to start the U-401 model I have this week, or this weekend, and I would be interested in any tips people can give me for painting it [although, truth is, the model is already painted red on the bottom of the hull - although I'd still like to paint the top black and all the special details]?

![]() I always do a "dry-brush" style in painting.I paint everything black to start and gradually brush on progressively lighter colors.
Not using a wet brush will insure the detail areas stay highlighted |

![]() I know this will sound funny but as someone new to models how hard is it to generally assemble them? Do people normally paint them or do they come painted? For example I would like to collect IDF tanks and stuff for models.

![]() depends on what scale you want to build, how much you want to spend and on the subject.
IDF vehicles are hard to find as model and you usually have to use a conversion set to get a IDF model and those are quite expencive. There are some models out there. Academy has a: M-113 Zelda/ comunication vehicle Merkava 2 Merkava 3 (sadly not the production type) M-113 fitter (engenering vehicle) M-151 shmira (just a IDF-ed Mutt) And tamiya has the Merkava 1 (All of those in 1/35) The models have to be asembled by you and painted by you, but thats the fun part of modeling Hoop it helps, Jan-Willem
