Default Concealed carry recommendations

Gentlemen and Ladies,

I carried a Beretta 9mm on a holster with a Beretta 32 under my shirt
while in Indian territory. (Oh yeah, M4 too and maybe allotta clips and grenades- ah good times, sigh)
Played with Glocks.

I'm trying to decide on what my new carry is going to be now that I am simply a humble veteran trying to make my way through the world.
Any opinions on ankle holsters?

Part of me just wants to go back to the smaller caliber Beretta.

Fire away!

Have you considered revolvers? There are some nice ones available in all sorts of calibers.

Arrow .45 ACP Auto

I've carried a cocked and locked custom Colt 1911 .45ACP, Glock 21 .45ACP, and currently a Springfield Armory XD Service Model .45 ACP. I started shooting my grandfather's Colt 1911 WWI model as a young boy so I have been shooting the .45 ACP for 55 years now. I'm turning 66 in Dec. and qualified expert with the Colt 1911 for the first time back in 1971. One should shoot what they shoot the best and have the most confidence in. I have seen first hand at hand shaking distance what the .45 ACP can do to a man when properly applied.

What's the new law on Concealed Carry Law? I heard that in Texas we would be able to carry unconcealed, any truth to that?

I find it that when I do carry a concealed weapon if i have a tendency to have a little more patience than usual, I see things clearly and avoid conflict when possible. It's more for when I have my family with me and we're entering our house.

Texas has been talking about open carry for those with a Concealed Carry Permit but I would consult with L.E. before doing anything.

I have let my C.C. permit lapse since moving to the Socialist Republic of California mainly because I don't trust many of the L.E. Agencies, and D.A.s not to follow the law in many of the cities, counties, and areas I travel through. This states is extremely anti-gun and while there are some good people in the above groups there are also many looking to make anyone with a gun the criminal even if they were lawfully defending themselves. I have other skills I can fall back on to defend myself unlike many people.

Like you when I carry I was always careful to avoid places, circumstances, and people that I thought might require the use of my firearm. Even then while I was living in Texas to robbers on a dark Texas night tried to rob me yet I was able to get away without having to shoot eihter of them. That was back before C.C. and I was carrying a fold up 12 gauge. My wife at the time was a Deputy Sheriff.
