Armistice Day marked in NZ centres
Updated 35 minutes ago
More than 200 people gathered at Whenua Tapu cemetery north of Wellington in one of Remembrance Day commemorations held throughout the country on Sunday.
The commemoration marks 94 years since World War I came to a close with the signing of an armistice between Germany and Allied Powers on 11 November 1918.
Returned servicemen and Porirua RSA vice president John Hannan spoke at the service, as did funeral home manager Stuart Wheeler who is donating a life-sized black granite statue of a soldier to the Returned Services section of the cemetery.
Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall joined more than 300 Aucklanders, war veterans and politicians at a service marking Armistice Day in Auckland, on their first full day of their visit to New Zealand.

Happy Remembrance to one and all. Wear your Poppy with Pride if you are prompted to!

Happy Veterans day also to all who served!
