Default Psychological testing

Hi there,

I'm new to this forum. I'm a UK author/researcher and I had a question for you guys.

I'm researching a psychological test called the TAT. It was developed at Harvard University in the 1930s. I'm not allowed to link to it's wikipedia page as I'm new to the forum. But TAT stands for Thematic Apperception Test. It's a bit like the ink blot test except you're supposed to write a story based on a drawing they show you.

It says on it's wiki page that "The Israeli army uses the test for evaluating potential officers."

I'm trying to find out if that's true. Did any of you go through this test? Or other psychological tests? If it is true, what do you think they're trying to find out about candidates... maybe it's not true. Wikipedia has been known to not be true...

Jon

Unfortunatly the psycological tests are kept classified to all those except evaluaters.

This means no one can give "the right answer" but an honost interpretaion of what they see, so potential officers are the best not like in other countries where people go in knowing what is the right thing to say.

Actually its the same in various British and Indian army Service Selection Boards.

Im pretty sure it was discussed here before there is a score system and if people knew the way the test works everyone would be a high scorer or Maybe Im thinking of Sayeret testing ??

I have no idea about that sir, all I do know is that in British and Indian Army Service Selection Board interviews (which typically last around 5 days), the psychological tests have no correct answers per se, but rather evaluation by the examiners on criteria that is kept classified. Based on experience from the people I'v talked to, the British Admiralty Interview Board is considered exceptionally tough psychological testing wise, though I have no idea why this is so .

Im certain of it now A guy came here about a year ago looking to see how to be a kravi in a sayeret, Rafi went briefly over the basics but when it comes to the psc interviews there highly classified,

If I get some time Ill have a search I know it wasnt in its own thread but part of another.

I know what you mean by its the same with "no right answers" But there was something about the Idf's test that made it somewhat more selective.

Since Sayeret units have rather specialised missions demanding more stringent focus in certain areas, I am not surprised their selection criterion is different to regular units.

I have been following this thread, and no, as an IDF officer I
have nothing to contribute.
