Default Merkava Models

Shalom.

Well I now have a 1/35 scale kit of each of the four main variants of Merkava tanks. When I get the time I'll be doing a build sequence of them. I recently found out that #2 birdshot is the ideal size for the balls of the ball & chain armour. Fortunately the Tamiya Merkava I that I'll build as tank in 1982 Lebannon doesn't require those 55+ balls. That just leaves 155+ to do up for the other three tanks.

The other three Merkavas I have are the Academy Merkava II Special Edition, the Hobby Boss Merkava III D and the Hobby Boss Merkava IV. All are decent kits.

No matter what the price do NOT buy the Acdemy Merkava III kit in 1/35 scale as it's nothing like the real tank. Academy tried to model a III by using a lot of stuff from their Merkava II. Not good at all.

Right now I'm working on a Tamiya 25 pounder gun and an Italeri hard cab 2.5 ton truck to pull it. They're circa 1948. I'll be crewing them with a mix of modified British 8th Army troops who will possibly be armed with Mauser rifles.

Cheers

Shalom.

Pictures of what? Thr models or the 1948 gun and truck? If the latter I can't post the images of the vehicles from the book I'm using as that would be copyright violation.

Cheers

Anyone know where I can get a 1/1 scale Merkava? Do they come that big?

Possibly. Israel will be scrapping the oldest models soon as I understand, so perhaps you can bid away!

The 7th Armoured Brigade of the 36th Armoured Division has been moving over to Mark IVs. Plus the rethink going on about the need for massed heavy armour. Lighter, quicker tanks with laser canon. Could be more Merkavot on the sales floor in the next few years.
