Default No One Killed Jessica

Anyone seen this movie? I bought the DVD sight unseen and watched it last week:

Interesting movie, although it caught a lot of flak for being a bit too fictionalized as well as some over-the-top acting. Enjoyed the location filming in India, though. Always had a great fascination with your country going all the way back to my love of the exciting (yet historically inaccurate) 1939 film Gunga Din and of course Kipling's poem of the same name. Also supported a native Indian Christian missionary there for a number of years.

If you've never seen this flick below which was filmed entirely in India, check it out. I've got the Blu-Ray version and the photography is superb:

Yeah, the case got the media's full attention, it as a miscarriage of justice till the end when the perp finally got life from the Supreme ourt, through his father's clout he had managed to get acquitted from all levels till then.

Kipling is the best of course, one of my favourite's as well, but you'd be much disappointed if you form a romantic opinion of modern day India based on him, it'd be much like imagining present day US based on spaghetti Westerns.

There are some evangelicals who are too pushy and tend to purvey a lifestyle that one just cannot approve of in a poor nation, however others are genuinely nice and do some excellent work, specially in the healthcare and education sector, as do other Christian denominations as well. Catholics and Anglicans do a lot of good work here, I know you disapprove of their religious beliefs but they are rather well received sometimes compared to evangelicals because of their social work.

That movie looks very interesting and different. My maternal grandfather worked a while for USAAF during the WW2 era as well driving a truck before shifting to RIAF as an aircraft mechanic and then finally retiring from InAF as a Warrant Officer , I never knew about that bit till I read what was left of his diary after his death.

Just FYI: the IMDB description states the girls "fall" for an American soldier, but the man in the movie is portrayed as a former USMC Captain who served in the Pacific theatre. In actuality, the actor (Thomas Breen) was really a Marine vet as well as having lost a leg in the war.
